Profile

Ivan Vladimir Buttigieg was born on the 28 of November 1979. He grew up in Zejtun, where he still lives nowadays. Ivan is qualified in insurance, and works with an insurance company, where he is responsible for the insurance programs of some of the major business entities in Malta.

Ivan always aimed to participate in various activities organized in his hometown. Since he was a child, Ivan used to take part in the procession held on Good Friday at Zejtun and never missed a procession ever since. Ivan is also very interested in the feasts that are held in the South area, because they allow citizens to celebrate the feast and mingle with the rest of the community.

Politics was always important for Ivan. He was determined to involve himself in politics since he was young. Ivan started his political career in 1995 as President of the Labour youth forum branch in Zejtun. He occupied the said post for a number of years. In 1997 Ivan was one of the members who founded ‘Pulse’, an organization for social democrats students.

Between the years of 1998 and 2005 Ivan occupied the post of President in the third district committee of the Malta Labour Party. During this period of time, Ivan held other significant positions in the Labour Party, such as member of the party’s electoral commission and member of the districts’ presidents and vice presidents group.

Ivan was also involved in the elections held in 1996, 1998 and 2003. Towards the end of year 2005, Ivan was confirmed as a Candidate for the Malta Labour Party on the third district, which comprises Fgura, Marsascala and Zejtun.
